Frequently Asked Questions

How much access do you need to my personal accounts?

Read-only access is usually all we need. We can view your transactions to categorize and reconcile them, but we cannot move money, make payments, or change anything in your accounts. You stay in full control of your finances the entire time.

We know handing over visibility into your personal spending is a bigger ask than handing over business books. There is no judgment here, and everything you share stays confidential. Our job is to organize what is already there so you can see it clearly.

Can I just use a spreadsheet to maintain my books?

Yes, especially when you’re just getting started. But as your business grows, spreadsheets can make it harder to maintain accurate and complete financial records.

One of the most important parts of bookkeeping is reconciliation—comparing your records to your actual bank and credit card statements to identify missing transactions, duplicates, or errors. While this can be done in a spreadsheet, accounting software like QuickBooks makes the process much easier and provides better financial reporting.

How is personal bookkeeping different from what a financial advisor does?

A financial advisor helps you plan for the future — investments, retirement, long-term strategy. We handle the present. We track what is coming in and going out each month, organize your accounts, and keep your records clean and current. Many clients use both, and having organized books makes advisor conversations far more productive.
